Order to pay a bill, 1776 December 6.

The note reads: "To the Treasurer Dec 6th 1776 Pay the within Account of fifteen Pounds By Order of the Convention. Button Gwinnett Speaker." Only the signature and the word "Speaker" are written by Gwinnett. The order was written on a bill of Wlliam Connell for mustering 10 companies under Colonel Henry Jones 60 days at 10 shillings per day, for a total of 30 pounds minus 15 pounds already received. Connell made his mark for receipt of the money on December 7th.
